TRIO DE LARROCHA

The Trio de Larrocha was born from the union of three young musicians who love chamber music. It was founded in the year 2011 at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) and is composed of Sergio Lecuona de la Cruz (Violin), Julia Carrasco Martínez (Cello) and Laura Pastor Giménez (Piano). They have assisted classes with Abel Tomás and Arnau Tomás founder-members of the prestigious Quartet Casals and the Trio Ludwig. Also they have done master classes with Pierre Reach, Hyo-Sun Lim and the duo composed by Isabel Hernández and Josep Fuster.

Recently they have received lessons and tutoring by the Trío Arbós and continued tracing.

The Trio de Larrocha was awarded with the Third Trize of the Musical Interpretation Competition for Youth  "L'Arjau" in the year 2014. 

They recently performed some concerts in La Casa Elizalde and L'Auditori in Barcelona and they are also planning several concerts throughout the year in Madrid and Barcelona.

 

SERGIO LECUONA DE LA CRUZ

Sergio Lecuona de la Cruz - Violin
 

Son and grandson of musicians, was born in Madrid in 1988 where he started his music studies whit two and a half years old. He ended his Profesional studies obtaining the highest qualification in violin, with David Martínez as tutor.

 

In the year 2013 he ended his Bachelor in the Catalan Superior School of Music (ESMUC), where he studied with the violin teacher Eva Graubin. At the present time he is doing a Continuing Education program in ESMUC with the teacher and formal member of the Casals Quartet: Abel Tomás Realp.

 

He has received master classes of Manuel Guillén, Anabel García del Castillo, Laura García del Castillo, David Martínez, Eva Graubin, Abel Tomás Realp, Francisco Romo, Miguel Simarro and Roberto González.

In chamber music he has received classes of teachers like Andrew Ackerman, Andreas Sundén, Pierre Reach, David Albet, Miguel Simarro, Carmen Deleito and whit all of the members of the Casals Quartet, founding the Trío de Larrocha in the year 2011. He has performed under the baton of: Lutz Köhler, Antonio Moya, Marco Fiorini, Sir Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Pablo González, Jordi Mora, Xavier Puig, Tim Garland, Jaime Martín, Antoni Ros Marba, George Pehlivanian, Xavier Albertí (Wanda Pitrowska), Živa Ploj Peršuh and Klaus Arp.

 

He has participated as an active member of the Maribor International Orchestra (MIO2012) in the year 2012, being the year of the culture of the European Union in the city of Maribor. He has also collaborated with the Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra (OBC) in the seasons of 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 with the conductors Pablo González and Antoni Ros Marbà.

Also he has collaborated with the Madrid Filarmonía Orchestra under the direction of Pascual Osa in the year 2013.

He was a finalist of the twentieth edition  of the National Competition “Jóvenes Intérpretes Ruperto Chapí” where he played works of Bach and Sarasate, in the year 2008.

Recently he has received the award “George Pehlivanian 2013” given by the Foundation Miguel Ángel Colmenero to the Best duo of Contemporary Music, teaming up whit the pianist Adriana Gómez Cervera, premiering the work "Solsticio de Verano" for violin and piano by Zulema de la Cruz in the National Auditorium of Spain.

JULIA CARRASCO MARTÍNEZ

Julia Carrasco Martínez - Cello
 

Júlia Carrasco Martínez (Barcelona, 1991).

 

Started with the cello studies at the age of 9, in the music school Escola de Música de Montornès del Vallès. At the age of 14 she went to study in the professional music conservatory of Badalona with the cellist Mark Friedhoff, with him she studied four years and he prepared her for going to the music university ESMUC in Barcelona, where she passed the access exam with the age of 18 where she has received lessons from the professors Damian Martinez Marco and Christoph Richter. Actually she is studying with Damian Martinez Marco.

 

She has participated in the orchestras Jonc (Young Catalan National Orchestra), Branimir Slokar Academy Orchestra (Slovenia) and JONDE (Young Spanish national orchestra).

 

She has participated in master classes with the professors Peter Thiemann, Christoph Henkel, Hillel Zori, Paul Friedhoff, Henrik Brendstrup, Lluís Claret, Damian Martínez, Maria de Macedo and Troels Svane, in the festivals AIMS (Solsona, Catalonia), Music Alp (French Alps), at the Liceu conservatory (Barcelona), CICyL (Burgos, Spain), in Hvide Sande Masterclass (Denmark) and in Capmany (Girona, Catalonia).

 

She was selected finalist of the Pau Casals Scholarship 2012. She has been selected for participating at Tourney International of Music, which will be celebrated in Paris on June of 2014. In 2013 she has received the scholarship for musicians from the foundation Anna Riera- Victoria dels Àngels.

 

Her interests for chamber music has gave her the opportunity of finding the groups Trio de Larrocha, Duo Àurea, and duo with the pianist Neus Peris. Actually she works on chamber music with Quartet Casals and Damian Martinez.

LAURA PASTOR GIMÉNEZ

Laura Pastor Giménez - Piano
 

Laura was born in Barcelona in 1992 into a family with a long musical tradition.

She started taking piano lessons with the piano teacher Ester Vela López when she was five.

 

She entered the Oriol Martorell School where she studied until she was fifteen. She then joined the   CMMB (Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona) taking classes with the professor and concertist Antoni Besses and she completed her studies with honours. She was awarded with a solo performance with the orchestra playing the Mendelssohn concerto num. 1.

 

Laura entered the ESMUC when she was 17 where she is currently finishing her Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance taking lessons with Manuela Gouveia, Pierre Réach and the famous Casals string quartet.

 

Laura has been taken part in national and international competitions and festivals since a very early age. She has won many awards and has had the chance to play as a soloist and in chamber music an extensive repertoire, including contemporary Catalan composers.

Laura has played throughout Spain as well as France, Portugal and Hungary. She was awarded with the CEP (Centro de Estudios Pianísticos) grand to take various master classes. In 2012 she was finalist at the “11 º Certamen Nacional de Interpretación Intercentros Melómano de Madrid”. 

 

Besides her soloist piano playing Laura also composes and plays orchestral and chamber pieces. She also works as an Accompanist in theatre plays, choirs and Music Schools and teaches part - time at a music school as a piano and improvisation teacher.

 

Laura's passion for chamber music has led her to co-fund the Trio de Larrocha with Sergio Lecuona and Julia Carrasco.

 

She was recently awarded with the first prize in the piano competition "Antoni Besses".
